Spectator sports aren't my favorite topic; what I've written for Yahoo Sports has been about participatory sports, specifically the ones aunts can share with their nephews. Years go by when I find nothing to say about either the World Series or the Super Bowl.
Nevertheless, the news that my father's favorite team--ever since Stan Musial's time--has finally made it to the World Series, is too good not to share. The St. Louis Cardinals have broken through that old Yankees-Dodgers monopoly! Dad would have been proud. Meanwhile, my e-friend Linda Riggs has celebrated the Cards' success with a poem:
