The Four Classical Humours, a Poem

The computer actually tried to change "humours," the ancient medical concept, to "humor," which is a tag this site uses for things that make us laugh. That's humorous...but not very...

Anyway, here's a link to a poem exploring the classical theory of how the four states of matter were thought to relate to the four most obvious human personality traits. This is the part of the classical theory that's not reflected in Florence Littauer's Personality Plus.

  1. Thank you for boosting the signal! "The Four Humours" is one of two poems that I wrote for my new Steamsmith series in this month's Poetry Fishbowl. Since then, I've spent the past week developing background material for the setting, which my readers seem to enjoy. The underlying scientific method still works -- but a lot of the answers about biology and atomic structure are different.
