Ron Paul Will Now Be Misquoted Forever and Ever...

If you've heard things about Ron Paul saying the attacks of September 11, 2001, were America's fault, please click here to read what he actually said, and/or watch the video of him saying it:

I wish he hadn't said it. I've already seen some of the kind of hate that spews out of some alleged Jews and Christians when anyone suggests that U.S. policies may have contributed to anything in the Middle East...and I wonder whether raising this issue during the campaign is an indicator that Ron Paul doesn't actually want to be president.

But, just for the record: he didn't say it was our fault; he didn't say it wasn't Al-Qaeda's fault. What he said was that our maintaining troops in overseas bases contributed to hostility against us in host countries. And I find this easy to believe (not claiming enough knowledge to say that it's true or false), because I've read books from friendly, non-Islamic countries that showed the hostility. Check out this multilingual, cartoon-enhanced, very readable book from Mexico...if you're a U.S. citizen you won't like it and you'll find lots of inaccuracies (I think they're put in for comic effect), but it does show how even the friendly folks in Mexico feel about our military bases.
