Legal Bake Sale: With Laura Ingraham in Spirit

Someone actually Googled the question, "Are bake sales legal in Virginia?" In view of some of the ludicrous legislation we've seen metastasizing across the United States, it's not as unreasonable as it sounds to us over-forty types.

Bake sales are still legal in Virginia, although some illogical restrictions may apply. Last week, in Gate City, Virginia, the CVS Pharmacy hosted a sidewalk bake sale.

Where does Laura Ingraham come into this story? When this web site noted the termination of her radio show, we checked out her web site. We noted that St. Jude's Children's Hospital is her favorite charity. The bake sale outside the CVS store was a fundraiser on behalf of St. Jude's.

I bought the (gluten-free) peanut butter fudge. It was delicious. And familiar. I know who donated it.

If you were not in Gate City for the bake sale, but would like to be with Laura Ingraham (or the children at the hospital) in spirit, you may click on www.stjude.org. One page at their web site contains a list of corporate sponsors that collect donations for the hospital with purchases: http://www.tg.stjude.org/partners.
