In a mild, restrained comment on an article about a lunatic fringe group called People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, I expressed appreciation that they were directing their strange notions of ethics toward species other than Homo sapiens.

Today's surprising news is that Yahoo, trying to moderate the crass comments that appear below most Yahoo News stories, has introduced filtering software that automatically changed the species name of humankind to "#%$% sapiens."
Oh, right...and I suppose the description of the language that has been peppering Yahoo News comments should be "cr%$$."
