Defense by Pleading Guilty to a Lesser Charge

If Marcin Kasprzak "simply wanted to frighten" Michelina Lewandowskas, he didn't need to bury her alive. Whatever happened to poison-pen letters, or calls, preferably to a cell phone that accepts incoming calls and bills the owner for them, in the middle of the night?

Pleading guilty to a lesser charge may not be the world's most outrageous defense strategy, and it's been used before, but this guy has clearly committed assault. And he's admitted to it. Clearly, he needs a long, hard time in prison.
