Never Allow a Crisis...Read a Free Chapter

While paging through the LIS bill index I clicked over to this link:

...and read an eye-opening explanation of how and why the Old Left "likes" entrepreneurs, and the chilling historical precedent for policies that subsidize selected small businesses.

It would be hard to dispute that regulation is necessary when neighborhoods experiment with really innovative technology like a "community solar garden." Before wiring up your own cutting-edge generator, wouldn't you want some professional advice? The problem is that, even if a government employee can help you accomplish a useful purpose like harvesting your own natural energy to reduce your electric bills and carbon footprints, the government can afford to do only so much.

My generation grew up with the idea that "Uncle Sam" was the kind of rich bachelor uncle who just loves to take us to the mall, with as many of our little friends as can fit into his car. It takes a lot of numbers to convince most of us that he's now more like a broke bachelor uncle whose company has folded, and the credit card bills are coming due. So I'm not accusing our President of deliberately participating in a socialist scheme to destroy our federal government. He's just another early-middle-aged guy whose mental image of Uncle Sam has been shaped, perhaps deliberately, to blur into his mental image of Santa Claus. All baby-boomers have been miseducated that way; all of us need to fight it if we want to go on living in a constitutional democratic republic.

However, reading that sample chapter will help us fight it. Even on the "community solar garden" idea, which could be such a great idea by itself, we have to say, "Thanks for the initial tax break but we'll pass on the tax funding." That's definitely not going to be an easy thing to say...so please use the link above to let Bart DePalma convince you that it's your duty as an American to say it.

  1. In Florida the "crisis" is "get me elected I'm the only one who can beat Obama" in a debate.I can't believe he wants to put a colony on the moon right now! I'd love one, don't get me wrong but WHERE IS HE GOING TO GET THE MONEY FOR THIS THING??? What other government obligations and debt will be diverted to THIS promise?
