Does President Obama Love Black People?

This site does not have a category for news items that make one say "Oh per-lease." Maybe we need one...

How many people does our President genuinely love? How many do you genuinely love? How can anyone else tell?

With a celebrity, especially a politician, there are of course two possibilities: (1) The person is genuinely practicing good will, as the person understands it, toward all his or her constituents--although the person may have a very misguided understanding of the constituents and/or of good will; or (2) The person is pretending to practice good will while actually only collecting the benefits of being in a position to practice good will, and not practicing good will.

The celebrity may know which of these statements is true. Other people have no way of knowing that.

Obviously the President does not and cannot love all of his constituents in any way more personal than general good will. But only the extremely naive would confuse his ability to project "warmth" and charisma with good will. Being President of the United States is stressful. Campaigning for re-election is ultra-stressful. If a President looks more frazzled than charming, so what? Don't most of them? Aren't most of them?

Personally, I find it easier to trust a politician who looks a bit stressed during a campaign than one who looks as if he or she is just thrilled through and through, all the time.
