It feels like an extension of time to use this laptop; supposedly it wasn't going to receive Microsoft updates, but it's still getting them and I'm still ganking what I can. I think the strategy is to destroy the physical device. The screen has started flickering ominously. Anyway, today's links, mostly music:
Animals
Video documentation of the behavior I described in last spring's tragic swan poem: Cygnets (young swans) are curious about other living things...and adult swans are insanely protective. In this video swans challenge a boat!

Technology
...and the more we can get back to the way these things used to work, the better. Digitizing things that worked better without "the cloud" merely expands "the cloud" and creates the supposed demand for those data centers nobody wants. Graphic from Joe Jackson, who may have got it from Jamesjmelville on Instagram. (Google thinks it's a "nostalgia" meme. Wrong, Google. It's a "direction of progress" meme. If you can't do all 12 things the reliable, cloud-busting way, work to fix this.)
I moved away from Microsoft based computers a long time ago. I remember how horrible it was to get updates which was painfully slow. I began using Apple computers in 2006 and we've been hooked ever since.
ReplyDeleteSky Dance sounds like something that might've been used on the HBO series West World. We don't have it anymore and only saw the first two seasons.
I skipped and sampled your music links. You picked some interesting ones. Foggy Mountain Spaceship is interesting. I will have to check out more of their music.
Anytime you want to join the dance party on Mondays feel free to add your music link. It can be anytime during the week, if you want.
Thanks for visiting, Priscilla. Have a blessed afternoon!
Thank you for visiting, Cathy, and a wonderful weekend to you! I'm told Apple is expensive, though? (I don't buy computers, I'm given them by clients or sponsors.)
