Sunday Senryu

It's not yet Sunday here, but Rallentanda's Sunday Senryu are live, so...

man shall not live by
pumpkins alone, but my great-
grandpa almost did

(The first winter in Indiana, in the early1860s, Mother's grandparents had to eat what they'd raised--everyone did--and for them, that year, that was mostly pumpkins. Great-Grandpa and his siblings did not turn into pumpkins, as they feared they might do. They lived long healthy lives.)

Willie the Conker
politely ignored me; I
was Tabby's human

(A housemate had a big orange tabby tomcat like this one. He showed affection only to her. He was well pleased that a smaller cat whom another housemate wanted to adopt cuddled up beside her or beside me.)

the flower vendor
sweats on the corner, but he
picked that off MY bush
