Napowrimo 16: Each of the Ten Lines Is a Lie

At least, after a harrowing day of cyber-attacks, today's National Poetry Writing Month challenge is a soft ball. "Write a ten-line poem in which each of the lines is a lie."

The Principal burned down the school.
A dog, head of the senior class,
Denounced to the police this fool,
Then bit till blood flowed from his rump.
And still that ceiling made of glass
Denied Ms. Merritt his old job,
And gave it to Bus Driver Bob,
Who chose to give the kids a bump
By driving through the gym--that slob!--
So every student now must pass!

(Process note: I thought of Shel Silverstein's "April Fool" poem, which contains obvious, ridiculous "lies"...This poem does contain one big bad lie: the lie that if it's the school's fault that the students aren't ready for the next grade, the school should pass them on to the next grade anyway.)
