Ayaan Hirsi Ali Denounces Muslims Gone Wrong

A few weeks ago, I said I wasn't going to share any more links to the anti-Christian violence of the Boko Haram fanatical group in Nigeria, because they were too graphic and too painful. Apparently others felt this way, because Congressman Tom Tancredo's official blog (hosted by Marla) stopped posting them. But in case anybody out there was wondering whether Marla's informants might have been guilty of alarmist exaggeration, check out yesterday's Newsweek. Ayaan Hirsi Ali's update on this story made the front cover. Her words and photos are also available online here:

Warning: deeply disturbing details, including an image of a patient being treated for extensive wounds.

This is not the teaching of Muhammad. I can't read Arabic, but I've listened to the actual words and read an English translation. The Koran, not merely Ottoman Turkey, set the policy for conceding a kind of second-class citizenship to Jewish and Christian residents in Muslim countries. However, at this point in history certain "Mad Mullahs" and their followers are becoming too violent to qualify for religious tolerance.

Although she writes with a bit of an accent (her "Christophobia" seems logically to mean something different from the Christian-phobia this web site monitors), I would change just one word of Ayaan Hirsi Ali's article. She wrote, "Tolerance is for everyone--except the intolerant." In view of Ryan Dobson's Be Intolerant (a book that advocates speaking for high standards), I'd say, "Tolerance is for everyone except the violent."

I'm not a member of the Daily Beast, and can't comment there. If anyone else can, will you please notify Ms. Ali that this site officially thanks her for beginning the badly needed, long overdue, sane Muslim and/or Arab response to the insanity.
