Tim Kaine on Floodproofing Virginia's Coastline

From U.S. Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA):

"
This week, the Senate Committee in charge of addressing our country's water infrastructure approved a bill that included two of my proposals to initiate flood-resilience projects to protect Tangier Island and Coastal Virginia from sea level rise and recurrent flooding. Next, it's headed to the Senate floor for a vote by the full body.

I've heard from local leaders in Hampton Roads and in rural communities on Tangier Island, the Northern Neck, Middle Peninsula, and Eastern Shore who are working on solutions to protect their homes and businesses and need us to do our part. This legislation will help move the ball forward so we can protect Virginia's coastal communities and resources. When we take up the bill for a vote in the full Senate, I'll be urging my colleagues to recognize the clear need to protect these treasured pillars of the Virginia economy.
Sincerely,

Tim Kaine
