Web Log for 11.10.24

This is Veterans Day. As a government or Hallmark Holiday it is likely to be more of an inconvenience to the veterans we know than anything else. It is our responsibility to give this day meaning for those it was intended to honor. On the eleventh day, at the eleventh hour, do something your favorite veteran wants you to do.

Christian

Josh Howerton posted this on a nasty site someone else visited for me:

"
We elected Jehu (a flawed leader who defeated a greater evil) not Josiah (a righteous leader who led national revival), and that comes with risks.
"

Preach, Brother! This is no time to slack off on praying.

Election 2024 Is Over. Let Us Give Thanks

Energy

Scams to watch out for:

Poetry

Middle-aged people like the feeling that there's "no time to kill." All very well if we don't overdo it and succumb to karoshi. Hypertension tempts us the way making unwanted babies tempts the young.

Songs

The classic November (as distinct from Thanksgiving!) song. Probably better known as the record to put on if you wanted the parents to excuse themselves from a teenagers' party.

And for just twenty dollars, you could get the whole sound track to Dave Barry's Book of Bad Songs. I promise to identify each one so you can skip the ones you still hate, and listen to only the ones you used to hate hearing every single day..

  1. Thank you for your visit and following my blog. Your disclosure regarding cookies is excellent and spot on! I noticed your address at the bottom, so I had to see where Gate City is at.
We're practically neighbors. lol We were just up that way visiting my Mom who lives not far from Whytheville, VA. Have a blessed, boogietastic week, Priscilla!

  2. You too, Cathy! I've not been in Wytheville for a while but remember camping and shopping there on the monthly commute, years ago.
