In an earlier romance by this author, Brad was a minor character who neglected his wife, Maddie, and son, Jacob. He even gave Maddie reason to suspect that he was cheating, although, we're told in this book, he wasn't. Maddie divorced him. She's still attracted to him, and he's been faithful about sending more money than the court ruled he owed her, but she didn't want to be married to a man who was never at home.
Now Maddie and Jacob are staying with Maddie's Gran in Huckleberry Lake, Idaho. Brad doesn't think he'd rather be there than in Los Angeles where he was climbing the ladder and making money, but he's become a Christian and wants to be a good father. Maddie's Gran happens to be leaving behind a store where he could work in Huckleberry Lake. There's little chance of his making as much money there as he would in LA...
It's a Christian romance so you know where this must lead; the pleasure is in seeing how they get there.
