Insurance schemes promote fraud, because who doesn't want to take as much money as possible from a big, rich, greedy, remote gambling scheme run by a corporation that wastes our time. Once again, this web site recommends that everyone oppose all versions of "health care reform" that involve the insurance gambling industry in any way.

Alternatives? As previously discussed, I like the Veterans Administration system of having a fund that compensates the doctor after the patient has paid what s/he can pay for a year or so. (My preference would be to stop payment if the patient died.) The V.A. fund is created from tax dollars, and if this system were implemented nationwide it would raise everyone's taxes...but not by anything near as much as paying into an insurance gamble that would be sure to spiral out of sight if everyone were forced to buy medical insurance.
