Quote: “I can hardly wait for my new neighbors to meet me!”

But wait she does. Are the other monsters in her new neighborhood afraid of Scarlet because she weighs 300 pounds? Can it be that, being monsters, they’re afraid she might not like them?

This is one of the “I Can Read” book series. The ones that weren’t written by Dr. Seuss are fairly well limited to two age groups. They appeal to children up to grade two, or grade three at the most, and they appeal to adults. Any association with these books may embarrass older children. I was much too old to look at this book when it came out, and had to wait until about age fifty to find a copy, read it, and like it.

Scarlet Monster Lives Here and other books by Marjorie Weinman Sharmat are Fair Trade Books: when you buy them from this site, we send $1 per book to Sharmat or a charity of her choice. Paypal has upgraded away from "i-frames," so it should be easier to buy books now: either by sending a U.S. postal order for $10 to Boxholder, P.O. Box 322, Gate City, Virginia, 24251-0322, or by sending a total of $11 (for this one book) to Paypal using the button below. That's still $5 per book, $5 per package, $1 per online payment. At least seven more books of this size will fit into a $5 package and, in theory (please help us test this feature!), Paypal will add up the prices per book and charge only the one shipping fee.
