Book Review: Pawsable Cause at the Bow Wow Bakery

Title: Pawsable Cause at the Bow Wow Bakery

Author: Belinda Page

Date: 2023

Quote: "I spent the previous evening baking both sets of snacks at Max's Bow Wow Bakery, my bakery and the only bakery in town that caters to dogs and sells people treats."

This is a murder mystery, up to the standards of the genre, but after you know whodunit you can have fun working out recipes for the treats the characters confect. Bakers Sophie and Erin have their shop next door to a needlecraft store, too.

The murder victim is a marathon runner. Who could have wanted to murder such a nice, wholesome young man? Sophie suspects a competing runner. Her little dog Max, who led her to find the body in the first place, helps her infiltrate the running crowd by taking some overdue exercise, and helps her survive when she confronts the murderer. As murder mysteries go, it qualifies as "Cozy"; only one person is murdered, though others are attacked.

If you like a logical puzzle decked out in cuteness, recipes, and needlecraft patterns, here is a book--or a series--for your whole needlecraft circle. Mothers, grandmothers, granddaughters, and the brave men who dare to join the circle should all enjoy it.
