Thanksgiving Dinner for a Military Family: How to Buy One

Although the United States spends vast amounts of money on our military as a whole, not much of that money trickles down to young soldiers, wounded veterans, and their families. I've seen this firsthand; while my brother-in-law was serving in the Navy (and married to my sister), there were times when the babies were sleeping in a clothes basket because they couldn't afford a secondhand crib, times when my sister had to deliver pizzas with the kids in the back of the pizza wagon...well, at least that gave her an incentive to drive carefully, oh right!

As you probably know, many of these young people have chosen military service because they come from poor families. Grandma and Grandpa may not be able to offer the kids much in the way of a Thanksgiving dinner either. And have you price-checked this year's Thanksgiving turkey, pumpkin, and potatoes yet?

Well, in today's e-mail I received information about how those of you who have money to spare can buy a Thanksgiving dinner for a military family or recently disabled veteran's family. Click here: www.SaluteHeroesProject.org.
