While most of this web site's correspondents think buying oil from Canada is a good short-term idea for the United States, Hannah and a local landowner are worried about the possibility of the pipeline leaking crude oil...onto land that, we have to remind them, has undoubtedly survived a few leaks before. Corporate spokesmen assure them that the pipes used will be "the safest ever built." We wish it were possible for them to promise more than that.
