Title: 2 Qt Small Crock Pot Cookbook
Author: Olivia Graham
Quote: "[T]his book highlights the best of regional cuisine."
Most regional culinary traditions in the United States did not focus on the Crock-Pot. (Actually some indigenous Americans did stew whatever meat, fish, and veg they had over an open fire, and then there were various traditional slow-stewing techniques from Europe...the Crock-Pot was inspired by traditional cuisine, new though it is.) Cooks who own Crock-Pots can, however, have lots of fun stewing local foods together to make slow-cooked meals that will be the best of regional cuisine, or regional Crock-Pot cuisine, as that tradition develops.
This is one of a series of e-cookbooks published on Amazon by...I'm not sure whether it's one editor and a small group of her cooking friends, or one self-published cook. The series is marketed by someone using the screen name "Claire Cook." Good choice of screen name. You may or may not like her taste but she does develop recipes for every new technique and every special diet.
There are flaws in this book. Dishes photographed are not necessarily the recipes they accompany, and in the M's the list of States and list of recipes lost connection--the Minnesota recipe calls for Mississippi catfish and Cajun seasoning. However, for those who enjoy slow-cooker cuisine, here's a rich variety of recipes that could even be used to teach children geography.
I'm inclined to give this whole series three stars, just because some books have to be average in order for others to be above average, and these are average books. They will be some people's favorite recipes.
