The other car banging into hers was bad enough but what really makes Emma want to die of embarrassment is that the man helping her out of the wreck is her brother's best friend, Lane, on whom she's always had a doomed crush. She went to the city to forget about him. She came back, and he's still single and still her brother's business partner. Some part of her has to have known this but for now she's wallowing in embarrassment.
It gets worse before it's over. The young men find the manuscript for Emma's current romance novel. It's about a hero who resembles Lane and is the heroine's brother's best friend. Real guys would deal with their embarrassment at such a thought by joking about it. Lane and Emma's brother Kieran are so tactful it hurts. We are not on the planet Earth. This romance takes place on the Lost Planet of Nice.
This short, sweet romance might have been finished and published a little too quickly, but it shouldn't embarrass readers very much, even if children find it.
