First Snowstorm of the Season

This week's cold front has brought me the first frost of the season. Further north, it's brought minor disasters to people like Michele Starkey...

And like Cathy Montville...

And like Peter Flom...

It's a warning to the rest of us...especially to my neighbor across the road, who's on the same power line. Prune those trees NOW. Don't wait for the power company to ship in hundreds of laborers from other states, then whine because, working from sunup to sundown, those hundreds of skilled laborers can't clean up every tree limb in the county within a day or even a week. Cut them away from the power line while the weather is labor-friendly.

Inevitably some slobs won't prune their trees...but at least those who've prepared themselves by pruning ahead of time will have plenty of firewood to provide warmth and light while we're waiting for the slobs to be shovelled out.
