It's Dark Out and I Want to Go Home: Petfinder Puppies Post

I had almost managed to forget not being able to post the puppy pictures for "Awww!" Monday. I owe youall some cute puppy pictures. The sun has set, a thunderstorm has threatening, I want to go home...and so do the puppies.

Zipcode 10101: Paula from New York

Not that they know much about her. She's a puppy, one of over 3000 uwanted puppies in the New York shelter system. Probably going by looks, they think she's mostly Schnauzer, which is a rather cute breed we've not featured before because they're not always available everywhere. She's had her major medical care already. They don't mention trimming those shaggy eyebrows, but shaggy dogs are prone to eye problems caused by untrimmed facial hair. If you have a steady hand with the scissors, she should be easy to look at and live with for at least ten years.

Zipcode 20202: Cinco from D.C.

At least they know his age and size. Cinco is now eight weeks old and eight pounds. That's awfully young to be adopted. The price is high, and maintenance of a puppy so young may be on the high end too. On the other hand he's had all the expensive veterinary care already done, and survived, and his hound/beagle ancestry practically guarantee he'll be a lovable pet, not too big, not too small. Anyway this is only a photo contest, and is this not the quintessential cute puppy picture? The D.C. shelter page lists approximately 1500 unwanted puppies this spring. A lot of people adopted dogs during the coronavirus panic and failed to schedule essential surgical procedures. If you can't haggle down the price on this puppy or get them to throw in a less photogenic playmate for him for the price they want, you're sure to find another puppy.

Zipcode 30303: Andy from Decatur

Petfinder's Atlanta page lists only 800 puppies in search of good homes. As usual, some of them aren't photographed at all and some photographs are grotesquely distorted, but here is Andy. He has a sister Amy. It would be nice to adopt them together. They're thought to be mostly hound, probably some police dog, likely to be on the large side when they grow up. At four months old, Andy is described as "smart as a whip and sweet as your grandmother's tea."

Share them, share them everywhere. Someone Out There is sure to fall in love with these photos. How could they not?

Shabbat Shalom, Jewish and whole-Bible Christian readers, and a wonderful weekend to everyone else.
