Happy Pub Date, S.F. Williamson

Today we celebrate the actual, official publication of A Language of Dragons, which should be in your local bookstore by now.

This is what reviewers mean by "pub date"--date of official publication of a book we've already read. It would be impossible for all of us to have a date with the author at a pub, or "public house," or bar-and-grill. Some publishers want the reviews to go live on the pub date; some want the reviews to generate advance publicity and reminder posts on the pub date.

And today's book review is a rerun...I'm sorry. My New Year's resolution was to recover from COVID in quarantine. Due to complications from deliberate poison spraying (because we all know unwanted plants just tend to make roads impassable when temperatures are below freezing unless it's actually raining or snowing for weeks on end) I'm still working on that. The computer's connection depends on a box that's out in the rain, snow, and freeze, which makes the computer about as weak and peevish as the human operating it. Actually the two handicaps fit together nicely. The computer now says it has no Internet connection; when it behaves as if that's true I lean back, pull blankets up around my neck, and take a nap. I have now nibbled my way through two days' provisions in the seven days of this year. I'm not doing much, nor is the computer doing much, but holding on until we're able to do more.

So please reread the review and support the new book. For those who can stand science fiction dystopias, I repeat, it's a good one.
