Book Review: Spell Don't Tell

Title: Spell Don't Tell

Author: Amy Boyles

Quote: "I first realized my sister and I would never be friends the night she confessed to stealing money from the mob."

Paige's extrovert sister was in love with a Mafia man, though they'd split up and sister Cammie had lost no time in finding another man. In fact, until Newmie the Mafioso came after the money Cammie took from him when she left, Paige was having to play chaperone. Nevertheless, when the sisters return the money to Newmie, Cammie whines about wanting to get together again, and seems grief-stricken when Newmie is suddenly roasted alive in his car.

Paige knows a magical creature  must've done it--one of the creatures that attack witches, which seem to be escaping from a magical book--and sets out to help her friend Grim, the monster hunter, find and destroy the creature. Along the way she finishes the novel she came to Willow Lake to write before realizing that it was a magical town and she had magical powers. She also finds out what happened to her ghost friend Snow. Technically the story that began in Witch's Block is finished. But what's happening to Grim? Has the monster they destroyed infected him? Paige likes him, but does he really deserve love? There's another trilogy. If you've been amused by this trilogy, you'll want the next one.
