Title: Educated Luck
Author: Melisa Todd
Date: 2020
Quote: "Magic is based on science; you just need to understand it wel enoough to use magic efficiently."
Cori, her adoptive sister Jo, and Jo's girlfriend Sable, are roommates at Georgia Mage Tech. All three are gifted with magical superpowers, as Cori's familiar, the giant orange cat Carelian, constantly tells her. (He uses an archaic spelling of "queen" that has sometimes been considered rude to refer to alpha females, and "malkin" to refer to beta females. These words have been used in this way to refer to cats in English.)
Cori has inherited a house. Apparently the house has some special value far beyond its value as real estate. In this third full-length novel about Cori, a series of magical attacks that threaten her life send her out into a magical showdown.
Although three volumes are as far as I'm likely to go with this series, there are several more volumes. Many people who like "urban fantasy" want them all. This volume ends with many unanswered questions, such as what exactly makes this house so special and whether Cori will always be asexual.
