Tim Kaine on Protecting Hampton Roads

From U.S. Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA):

"

Major Investment to Protect Hampton Roads from Sea Level Rise

Dear Friend,
As wintry weather moves in, please be sure to stay up-to-date on the Commonwealth’s response efforts and resources by visiting: http://www.vaemergency.gov/. Stay warm and be safe!
I wanted to let you know that Virginia will be receiving more than $120 million in federal funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development to bolster coastal resilience to recurrent flooding and sea level rise. This is great news for the Hampton Roads community and is a testament to the hard work of the region's municipalities, academic institutions like Old Dominion University and Virginia Institute of Marine Science, Naval Station Norfolk and leaders across the Commonwealth.
I’m proud of the bipartisan work we’ve done to address the impacts of sea level rise, and I’ll continue serving as a loud voice in the Senate on the importance of combatting climate change before its effects on our communities and military installations become even more extreme. Sincerely,
"
