Book Review: Murder at High Sea

Title: Murder at High Sea

Author: Karen McSpade

Date: 2022

Publisher: Karen McSpade

Quote: "Carl snapped...'I'm in charge, and I call the shots'."

Uh-oh. Those aren't the last words the bossy manager in charge of the music on the cruise ship will ever say, but they're close.

Too late for Carl, but fortunately for other people who might have been suspected, the music is being performed live by an aging rock band known as the Delta Queens. They're getting a little tired of their high-energy rock performances; people are starting to suggest that their best days are behind them. They always wanted to play detectives, too. So when Carl is found dead, they make it their business to find out whodunit and why.

Yes, these are the same Delta Queens who helped Piper Sandstone settle into the little town of Savory in the novel-as-series called Murder and Grits. Here we meet them before they meet Piper.

Yes, I did receive a batch of five e-books from Book Funnel, which counted Murder and Grits as one book, as review copies leading up to the newest one. You don't have to read all five books to enjoy any one of them, but it's more fun that way.

If you like a murder mystery that's short and relatively easy to solve, with only one quick clean murder, you'll like Murder at High Sea. My guess is that most readers will like the Delta Queens.
