Quote: "Savory is a wonderful, safe place to live and raise a family."

Murders do happen in Savory. When they happen the retired rockers Doris, Margie, Patty Sue, Rosemary, and their young protegee Sharon (aka Piper Sandstone), and Sheriff Jake (whom Sharon/Piper finds attractive), will solve them. But sometimes, in a small town, life is just...so...wholesome. Piper Sandstone, the real detective who had to go underground after being unable to put away the criminals she'd caught in Chicago, could get bored...if she weren't trying to impress Jake and, apparently, her emotionally distant father.

This story is about one of those periods of small-town wholesomeness. The "Dentures & Diamonds Detectives" solve a mystery, but it's a wholesome mystery. Nobody is murdered. The ladies solve a baffling series of petty thefts, and the mystery of how to make two novel kinds of pie that are quick, easy, and cheap when the ingredients are locally available.

The humor is as gentle as the suspense--I could have read this one in a hospital waiting room--but you will smile in a warmhearted way. This is a super-cozy mystery that reminds us of the sunny side of human nature.

It's a way to refresh your mind in between the longer, less wholesome (though still cozy) adventures of the Delta Queens turned Dentures & Diamonds Detectives. Sometimes, in real life, the solution to a mystery does happen to be wholesome and sweet.
