Quote: "Only my father, Uriel, and I are aware of the true nature of the Heritage Magic we bear."

Otello, Sacred Prince of Constantinium, has inherited real magic...and a plethora of tiresome rules about protecting and using it. His hereditary powers include knowing when he's met the right woman to marry. But does the magic also foretell that she'll be the end of him? Or will she be the end of the tiresome rules?

For me this mini-book does what a prequel should do: it establishes the rules of a fictional world, launches the plot of the series of longer books to follow, tells a complete story in its own right, and leaves me with some interest in the stories to follow. If you like whimsical fantasy with a bit of conscious anachronism, you'll want this whole series.
