Book Review for 12.25.23: Mistletoe Magic

Title: Mistletoe Magic

Author: Ellie Hayes

Date: 2023

Publisher: Sol Bound Books

Quote: "Charlotte...knew approximately zero people in Christmas Cove...A town that celebrated Christmas year round would be amazing."

The romance genre sometimes seems amazing, even incredible, because of its focus. We don't see the dates that didn't go well back in Ohio; nor do we see how Luke, the wood carver Charlotte meets as she launches her career as a painter, came to stay single for as long as he has. The romance genre takes us directly to the day they meet. Luke is almost the first person Charlotte meets in Christmas Cove.

If you've never celebrated Christmas in Florida, or if you have and think there ought to be more awareness of the charm of Christmas on the beach, you will appreciate Ellie Hayes' sweet story about a couple of unspecified age who fall in love with each other and with the peculiar nostalgic appeal of Christmas in Florida.

What's not to like? This is a short story. And, of course, although its main characters'  story is a complete, freestanding romance, it's like so many short e-books these days...designed to tie in with a series of full-length novels. If you like Mistletoe Magic you might find yourself wanting to collect them all.
