Nuisance Animal Species: HB855

Virginia House Bill #855 would remove protection for semi-tame deer, bears, raccoons, and other animals making themselves nuisances in people's gardens:

It's a good bill, but it doesn't go far enough. It does not specifically mention a home owner's obligation to other property owners to destroy animals that are likely to "commit depredations" on young children, e.g. bears and coyotes, whenever such animals stray within a mile or two of anyone's home; or, in the case of coyotes, whenever such non-native nuisance species are found in any part of Virginia whatsoever.
