Drug Treatment Court for Wise County: HB136

Virginia's House Bill #136 doesn't change the existing system radically. Virginia has had separate court sessions to address drug treatment cases for a while. What's new in the new bill is that southwestern Virginia is now seeing more drug treatment cases. Delegate Kilgore has proposed that a Drug Treatment Court be established in Wise County.

What would this bill do for readers of this blog, if enacted? Well, drug addicts don't need to drive cars, but inevitably, when required to report to the court, some of them do. This bill would at least reduce the distance drug addicts in Wise or Lee County would drive, by keeping them from having to report to the existing Drug Treatment Court in Bristol. Every mile a drug addict does not spend on the road is a safety benefit to all of us.

If they find time during the next few weeks of overwork, delegates and their assistants are cordially invited to comment here about how this Drug Treatment Court would affect the economy of Wise County.
