Should Insurance Information Be Transmitted Electronically? HB133

Virginia House Bill #133 would, if enacted, allow Virginians to permit insurance companies to transmit confidential insurance information online. Full text here:

You know by now what I think about this. I think that, unless the information that's transmitted online is limited to information about an online business, it's dangerous and stupid. However, people have a constitutional right to be wrong.

What's missing from HB133 is a provision that insurance providers can't force people to release confidential online, in the way insurance providers have forced people to do other dangerous, stupid, and harmful things (like driving solo in long processions because insurance for passengers might cost some of the drivers more). The bill needs to include a provision that all insurance providers must do business non-electronically at no additional charge.
