Introvert vs. Extrovert, Writing vs. Talking

Since Long & Short Reviews invited posts about introversion last year, and I wrote one, why not answer this week's prompt in verse?

Yes, I am an introvert. What about you?
The people I like best are introverts, too!
Ever since Adam's fall, humans were given
Need for interaction in earning our living,
But the Internet lets us do it mostly online,
Which, like mornings like this one, I think is just fine!

  2. That's a fun approach! I'm no poet, though.

  4. What I am is just fine. Perhaps a mixture? I will remember your prompt list, I am also writing but have to double up with a makeup for today.

    1. Thank you, Jim. I noticed you posted one poem on both P&SU and DVerse.

It was Rajani's prompt list. I thought it was everybody's; obviously a mistake.

  5. I'm guessing this is your answer to Why I Write, as it doesn't seem to apply to any of the others in Rajani's list. I strongly suspect the same applies to many poets if not all! I know I always feel more at ease with t he written than spoken word.

    1. Actually it was primarily an answer to the L&SR prompt, but I was trying to touch both bases :-) And actually I enjoy live conversation, but the writing/editing process certainly makes it easier to say one thing to several people. "THERE. It's SAID. Now if you want to talk, let's say thngs neither of us has ever said before."

  6. Like Jim l'm a mixture of both, and it's mostly a choice guided by my emotions. Food for thought Priscilla 🤔

    1. Neurologically we probably start out being one or the other, but everybody learns behavior that can be classified as both.

  8. yes, it does take us out of ourselves, if that is a good thing. Well done.

  9. Sometimes writing seems to draw me into myself, which is a good thing for emotional healing though it seldom yields writing worth publishing. Sometimes it draws me out into the world of objective facts, which is a good thing for mental balance, and for the writing...

  11. I'm an ambivert, but definitely grateful for the way the internet lets me connect when my introverted side is calling the shots.
