Books

Where does Barbra Streisand rate on your playlist? Too trendy? A follower not a leader? More like a fixture? How does the "She's been around forever" factor influence you? I've never considered myself a real fan, but I'd be interested in reading her memoir.

Good News

Dicamba's going to be banned this year. That is good news for humankind. Dicamba killed lots of non-target wildlife and harmed humans.

And that makes it even more critical that we all tighten, NOT loosen, whatever existing vigilance we've achieved about glyphosate. Keep the pressure on. If you feel worse after eating something, write to the company and ask whether they're sure it's glyphosate-free. If you consult a doctor for any condition that involves bleeding, especially internal bleeding, DEMAND tests for glyphosate in samples taken during flare and remission periods. If you still read, watch, or follow any commercial news media, DEMAND reports on the results of tests for glyphosate in cases of chronic bleeding. If you know any fools who are still spraying glyphosate on their property, DEMAND that local law hold them no less accountable for any drifting vapors or residues than they would be for any random bullets fired from a gun.

Politics (Election 2024)

We need a woman President of the United States. Actually we need several of them, in a reasonable and fair proportion of six or seven out of ten, reflecting the proportions of the population that remain competent after age 35, but we don't need one in 2024. The choices available are all non-starters. Hillary Clinton testified under oath that she'd survived too much brain damage to be electable in 2016. Kamala Harris is a Mean Girl with a dopey cackle. Michelle Obama recalls all the mistakes her husband made, and he was neither tacky nor sleazy; he was a gentleman, which means that as President his mistakes were the kind that hurt us. And Nikki Haley basically wants all the criminals on Earth to know where everyone who uses the Internet lives. I'm afraid we are in for four more years of a POTUS who thinks football scores are more interesting than dress styles.

And the current administration has certainly been a gift to a whole generation of satirists. But I've said it before, and I'll say it again. People must refrain from making fun of our Electoral College's duly constituted Head of our State. Hunter Biden's bad choices are fodder for comedy. Joe Biden's old age is not. Disrespect for old age is one of the things that are most certain to activate conscience-karma and backfire on those who laugh.

That was a comment I would have posted on Twitter, when Twitter was functional. It does not need a link to any undeserving articles at pjmedia.com.
