I'm all the way up, bright-eyed and perky and back to work, as of today. I found only two links (y'know some of the blogs I follow are their own forums and link logs, so I limit the number of their links I recopy here), but at least both of them are definitely the feel-good kind.

Names for Characters
It's important to be mindful when naming characters (or animals)...
One summer, a friend of my brother's ordered one of those batches of a hundred motherless baby chickens, different breeds. Naturally there was one vicious male in the brood.
He was an occasion of sin--the deadly sin of anger, when he bit the hands that fed him or the legs that approached him with food--so they called the hostile little rooster Jeroboam, Son of Kneebite. (For those who may not remember, Jeroboam the son of Nebat was a king of ancient Israel who caused the people to sin by introducing corrupt religious practices.)
It just happened that the friend's older sister, her husband, and their tots lived in a trailer house on the parents' property, so the friend saw them every day. The sister's husband's name was Jerry.
And so, from time to time until the Son of Kneebite was big enough to be the guest of honor at a chicken dinner, the friend's brother-in-law used to hear the friend yelling at the rooster, "You old no-good JERRY, you...I can hardly wait to wring your neck, JERRY!"
