Virginia Senate Bill 800, as noted yesterday, contains the next-to-final draft of our state budget. Carol Stopps recommends the following immediate action to constituents of the Virginia Delegates listed below. This web site recommends that, if your Delegate is on the list, you go directly to e-mail and share your thoughts while the office staff are still counting.
"Senator Stosch snuck in an amendment to the Senate Budget Bill (SB 800) which expands Virginia’s Medicaid. This is now in the House Appropriations Committee. Please contact these Delegates and ask them to remove this amendment.

Example letter:
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Virginia can't be forced to implement ObamaCare's Medicaid expansion and prevents the federal government from forcing implementation through withholding all Medicaid funding from any State that refuses to do so.
Our General Assembly is full of people who have been very vocal in their opposition to ObamaCare so one would think this would be a no-brainer for Virginia's politicians.
These same politicians routinely claim to be fiscally conservative, too, so it should be a done deal that ObamaCare will not be implemented in Virginia.
Then why am I writing you about it?
An amendment has been placed into the budget bill, SB800, that would expand Medicaid and could cost the State as much as $2.2 BILLION by 2020. The so-called conservatives in the Virginia General Assembly are working to pass this saying they may support passage IF the Obama Administration will give them some flexibility.
Please vote AGAINST Senator Stosch's budget amendment for ObamaCare's Medicaid expansion in Virginia! "
