SB 1065: Arts & Cultural Districts

Virginia Senate Bill 1065 seems unlikely to harm or offend anybody...

but e-friend Patricia Evans warns, "I oppose all tax credits, especially ones like this." Why "like this"? Because it could be used to play into the land grab disguised as the designation of Southwestern Virginia as a National Heritage Area.

Just about everybody in the House of Delegates liked SB 1065. If it weren't a time for national--and international!--paranoia, fully justified by the facts, I'd like SB 1065 myself. But look out, Gentle Readers: if your property is designated as an "arts & cultural district," although you may be artistic and cultured enough to justify this designation and think you'll enjoy it, you might be on the verge of losing the right to sell your home. Or paint it. Or prune your trees.
