Book Review: The Third Door

Title: The Third Door

Author: Hunter Chadwick

Date: 2023

Publisher: Clarity 4 Truth

Quote: "...or is today the day we break the cycle and learn to do it the right way?"

Jeremy is being scolded for notifying customers that they're paying for more than they're using, thereby reducing short-term profits. His boss isn't very nice. Neither is the guy she wants him to be more like. At least he has a few friends on the job. He doesn't seem to have much of a life after work.

That's until the day he sees, and uses, a third door leading out of a room that's always seemed to have two doors before. The third door opens into an alternate world. The world map is different; "President Kanye" is making videos for charity; the boss looks like the same person but in this world she thinks his customer-first approach to business is a model everyone else should emulate. In this world the counterpart to the snobby, even hostile, co-worker is apparently having an affair with him, but one of his friends seems to have suffered brain damage and another one is depressed.

What will he do? What would you do? By which of those doors would you choose to go home that evening?

This philosophical fantasy is a short, amusing read. It might be said to have one small flaw: The office flirtation is described in a little more detail than seems appropriate for religious discussion groups. For other discussion groups, it could start a great book discussion party.
