Richard Anderson Supports Scott Lingamfelter

Delegate Scott Lingamfelter, patron of the Boneta Bill, is running for lieutenant governor. Here's the text of an e-mail from Delegate Richard Anderson that snagged in my spam filter because Delegate Anderson used too many fancy graphic effects, but I found it in time to share it here:

"Dear Fellow Conservative,

If you’re like me, you feel so blessed to live in Virginia—now more than ever.

Even at a time when the rest of the country seems determined to go the way of liberal, big-government states like California and New York, Virginia remains a bastion of conservative strength, stability and common sense.

For now.
But we cannot take what we have here in Virginia for granted. Not for a moment.

Emboldened by the re-election of President Obama, Democrats believe that this is their time to lock in liberalism in every state and at every level of government. And today, the liberals have their eyes on Virginia.

As one of only two states with gubernatorial elections in 2013, the Virginia race will have local, state and national implications for years—and perhaps generations—to come.

That is why I am writing to you today, to tell you why I have endorsed my friend and fellow conservative, Delegate Scott Lingamfelter, for Lieutenant Governor and why I urge you to become a delegate for Scott on May 18th at the Convention in Richmond.

Now more than ever
, Virginia must elect authentic conservatives to our highest state offices. That is the only way for Virginians to hold the line against the liberal takeover of our government and our lives.

I have given great thought to the decision of who to endorse for Lieutenant Governor. Discussed it with people I trust and respect. Most of all, I’ve thought about what I’ve learned firsthand about Scott Lingamfelter, in the years we’ve served together in the General Assembly.

And I am convinced that, now more than ever, we need a real Virginia gentleman—a conservative’s conservative—like Scott Lingamfelter as our Lieutenant Governor.

When Scott stands up on the floor of the House of Delegates to address an issue, people from both sides of the aisle listen. Scott speaks with authority and true principled conviction. And when conservative values and issues are at stake, you can count on Scott to be a voice for truth, conservative principles, and decisive action to advance the conservative agenda.

I believe there are five key reasons for you to join me in supporting Scott as our Lieutenant Governor at the May 18th, 2013 Convention in Richmond.

1. Tested Leadership
: Scott took his oath as an Army officer to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States. He commanded large and complex units both in war and peace; and when he was elected to the General Assembly 11 years ago; Scott reaffirmed that oath to God and country. He has been a leader among conservatives in the Commonwealth ever since. Now more than ever, we need genuine leaders to restore America to its founding vision. Scott knows how to lead. He has been tested. And he has passed the test.

2. Proven Legislative Experience: It takes time and a lot of work to become an effective legislator. And when vital decisions are in the balance, you want to make sure that the Lt. Governor is an accomplished and authentic conservative who also understands the legislative process, particularly when that person is casting the critical tie-breaking vote in the Senate. Because one wrong vote on a vital issue can come back to haunt all of us for a very long time. Now more than ever, we cannot afford inexperience. We need someone like Scott to sit in that Chair and cast a reliable conservative vote when it counts the most.

3. An Authentic Conservative:
Every candidate will tell you that he or she is conservative. But is this based on a brochure, or results? Some will say they are a conservative , but Scott has had a flawless record fighting for conservative legislation , backed up by 11 years of casting votes, yes, actual votes—not just making speeches—or glossy brochures. Now more than ever, Virginia needs a Lieutenant Governor who will stand for your Second Amendment rights. Others may claim to do so. But Scott is the only candidate in this race with a consistent A+ rating from the NRA. Others may say they stand for families and small businesses, but Scott actually has consistent 100% ratings form the Family Foundation, a 100% rating from the American Conservative Union, and a 100% rating from the National Federation of Independent Businesses. Results matter, not the words of a slick brochure. Scott is a true authentic conservative, no exceptions.

4. A Measurable Record: Scott’s authentic conservative record is backed up with measurable results. He was the visionary for the audit accountability bills that have found and still are finding millions of wasted taxpayer money in Richmond. He fought and pressed forward for 8 years to get this legislation passed. He encouraged Governor Bob McDonnell to include these audits in his platform and worked to get these passed, resulting in the identification of $1.4 billion in funds sitting idle in VDOT. Scott has consistently opposed higher taxes, insisted on open and limited government, advanced school choice, stood up for our Constitutional rights and liberties including our right to hunt and fish, and he has been a real leader in rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse in spending. He was assigned to the budget committee because he is a budget hawk and since then, Virginia has rolled back spending and encouraged localities to do the same. Now more than ever, we need an honest-to-goodness leader, not a focus-grouped, teleprompter-reading politician. Scott has a proven, measurable, real conservative record.

5. A Winning Record
: The Democrats are going to throw everything at us but the kitchen sink this year. Now more than ever, Republicans must nominate a proven winner. Scott has won seven straight elections in a swing GOP district by double digits. He wins because he has an amazing work ethic and has knocked on tens of thousands of doors. But more importantly, Scott never wavers in his conservative principles. Scott believes that it’s not Conservatism that needs fixing. It’s our leadership that needs fixing. We must nominate a proven winner to get the job done. A genuine leader who understands the legislative process and an authentic conservative with a record you can measure

The fact is, 2013 will be a turning point for the future of Virginia and our Virginia way of life.

Will Virginia fall completely into the hands of the liberals? Will it turn into just another state where taxes and regulations are high and opportunity is low? Now more than ever, only you can decide.

So when you are considering whom to choose as your candidate, ask yourself, who is the leader? Who is the authentic conservative with a proven record? Who is accomplished? And who can win? By every measure, Scott Lingamfelter is that man. That is why now, more than ever, I urge you to join me in supporting him for Lieutenant Governor by becoming Scott’s delegate to the State Convention on May 18 in Richmond.
