Fourteen Senators This Web Site Commends

Jason Howerton reports on the fourteen senators who've publicly vowed to "Stand With Rand" and oppose a bill (which apparently hasn't been made available to the public) Harry Reid plans to introduce as "gun control."

We note, wryly, that exactly how bad the bill is remains unexplained. The mere linking of the terms "Harry Reid" and "gun control" would motivate some people to oppose a bill the actual contents of which were limited to "Students shall not be allowed to fire AK-47s on primary school playgrounds." It would be pleasant if Senator Reid would do something to call attention to some sort of public display of good sense on his part, but so far common sense has not been the quality for which he's been known.

Anyway, we commend these fourteen Republican senators for their public display of fortitude:

Richard Burr (R-NC)
Dan Coats (R-IN)
Mike Crapo (ID)
Ted Cruz (R-TX)
Mike Enzi (R-WY)
James Inhofe (R-OK)
Ron Johnson (R-WI)
Mike Lee (R-UT)
Mitch McConnell (R-KY)
Jerry Moran (R-KS)
Rand Paul (R-KY)
James Risch (ID)
Pat Roberts (R-KS)
Marco Rubio (R-FL)

We think John McCain has a valid point about waiting to see what's in the bill and find specific points to debate, rather than just deciding that if Harry Reid is sponsoring it it has to be a disaster; we are sorry (since he's distantly related to one of us) that Senator Reid has well and truly earned that kind of reputation.
