Say whaaaat? "But conservatives are hawks." Even in the 1960s some conservatives were doves; they just didn't scream about it in treasonous ways. Now there's reasonable doubt whether W Bush's generation of tax-and-spend Republicans can fairly be called conservatives. On the other hand, some left-wingers are in the U.S. military service. Some have made that their career. And traditionally the privileges of military rank have included opportunities to make life difficult for anyone the person of higher rank happens not to like...for any reason.
