Book Review for 7.19.24: Sunflower Love

Title: Sunflower Love

Author: Frances Dall'Alba

Quote: "Seven years was a long time...to miss someone when you'd had no idea where he'd gone."

This mini-novel may have been designed as a promotion for the author's longer, more detailed stories of extended families reconnecting in Australia. It's not set in a specific town, though. Some readers might be thinking of sunflowers as the emblem of Kansas. Erm...wrong.

Seven years ago, when they were "in love," Sophie and Tom used to buy special sunflower cupcakes from a local baker. Then he went off on a quest to find his biological family. The question is whether Sophie can forgive him for having disappeared...say what? It's a sweet romance. The more accurate question is how long it will take.

I prefer the full-length stories where the author's talent is on display, but if you want to relive memories of the pleasure of making up after a lovers' quarrel, Sunflower Love will help.
