The fire at Brianna's Bluebonnet Inn is not serious, but the arsonist's motive was...to distract attention from the murder, which sister Rebecca has to solve to be able to leave Brianna with a clear conscience.
For a murder mystery this one's on the cozy side. Rebecca will solve the murder in time to get back to work. (Brianna, unfortunately, tends to panic instead of doing logical detective work.) Characters and plot seem reasonably plausible.
By now there's probably a series; two chapters from a sequel are tacked on at the back of my e-book, where they add nothing to the reading experience but presumably meet some kind of required word count. They tell us that the series won't be one of those "let's get to know everybody in the whole small town" series. Resorting to Arson was set in Texas; Resorting to Murder will be set in St Croix.
