Firearms Rights and County Sheriffs

Here's a sample letter that has been circulating around the Internet for concerned citizens to ask their county sheriffs to sign, showing a clear opinion on the constitutional firearms rights of U.S. citizens. The first copy I received came from Karen Bracken and had obviously been forwarded to someone who forwarded it to her; I don't know whom to credit. I've edited this version for grammar. Anyway, firearms rights activists are welcome to paste the text into their word-processing software, edit, print, and use it:

"Sheriff ( Name Here ),

Request for Information.

I am writing to ask you what your beliefs are about your citizens' Constitutional Rights, and how you interpret your responsibility to the citizens of ( Name of County ), should the Federal Government overstep its Constitutional Restraints and try to arbitrarily reclassify and confiscate legally owned firearms in violation of the Second Amendment Rights of Americans? Are you prepared to protect our Constitutional Rights, and defend the Constitution of the United States?

Even if an Unconstitutional Law is passed by the Federal Government, are you prepared to protect the citizens of ( Name of County ) from the Federal Government when they overreach their Constitutional Authority? One of the most important lawful roles of a County Sheriff is being the single most important administrative, political and legal authority under a Sovereign State. Since every State of the Union is essentially a Sovereign Nation unto itself, and every County is a legitimate sub-division of that Sovereign Nation, the individual's real constitutional protections are primarily enforced by the County Sheriff. One of the most important duties of that Sheriff's lawful responsibilities, is to ensure that no one, even the Federal Government, violates the Constitutional rights of anyone within the jurisdiction of the County Sheriff.

Regards,

( Name and information here)"
